Audit Visit Highlights Progress at Recycling Zone LLC!
We are thrilled to share that USAID auditor team recently visited Recycling Zone LLC, a company we proudly support through our project. Owned and staffed by members of the Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptian communities, this facility is a shining example of social inclusion and environmental innovation in action.
During the visit, the auditors had the chance to see firsthand the machinery provided through the project, which is now fully operational at the processing plant. The results are remarkable: 8 workers are currently employed here under formalized contracts and 17 contract agreements have been signed with Roma, Ashkali and Egyptians informal waste collectors, marking a transformative step in creating stable, dignified employment opportunities for marginalized communities.
But this is just the beginning! With the imminent distribution of recyclable waste containers throughout the municipality, even more jobs are expected to be created. This expansion will further integrate these communities into the formal waste recycling sector, providing sustainable livelihoods while contributing to a cleaner and greener environment.
This development represents a significant step toward the full formalization of waste collection and processing in Kosovo. We are incredibly proud to be part of this journey and grateful to all our partners, especially USAID Kosovo, for their continued support and commitment to fostering sustainability and inclusion.
Together, we are building a future where waste is a resource, and everyone has a role to play in protecting our planet.
