Advancing Community Empowerment: ECMI Kosovo's Recycling Initiative Update

Recently, ECMI Kosovo held a crucial meeting that underscores our commitment to community empowerment and environmental sustainability. This gathering focused on the Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptian communities, with a special emphasis on those involved in informal waste collection.

As part of our continuous dialogue in the Recycling Matters Activity project, we’re entering vital stages of creating an effective recycling model. This model is designed with these dedicated individuals at its heart. Our meeting took place in the Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptian neighborhood in Fushë Kosovë/Kosovo Polje, offering a chance to closely examine the advancements of the Recycling Zone Company. This company is key to boosting our recycling infrastructure and capabilities.

Our discussions covered the expansion of machinery capacities and the strategic acquisition of recyclable bins, aiming to meet the community’s needs effectively. Central to our project is the goal of improving the lives of the Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptian communities by providing significant employment opportunities within the recycling sector.

Feedback from community members during this meeting was valuable. Their insights not only contribute to the project’s richness but also ensure that our approach to building a sustainable recycling model is rooted in the real experiences and hopes of those directly involved.

As we move forward, the unwavering dedication of our CLSF members to collaborative success is evident. Their input is crucial, forming the foundation of our efforts to achieve our collective objectives for the Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptian communities and the broader environment.

This event was part of the “Recycling Matters Activity Fushë Kosovë/Kosovo Polje” project, which is funded by USAID Kosovo.
