During 2011, ECMI Kosovo has received reports that several schools in Kosovo have segregated classes for Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian children. ECMI Kosovo considers this a serious form of discrimination and a particularly problematic practice considering the current repatriation process. This policy brief explains the exact meaning of segregation in education, describe the main domestic and international laws dealing with this issue, describe and discuss the situation in Kosovo and provide several concrete policy recommendations to address this issue.
